Organisation
Portbase is a professional, market-driven service provider with a port-wide focus. The organisation has three departments:
- Marketing & Sales is responsible for market analysis, market approach, product identification and product strategy.
- Product Development does R&D and manages the development of new services.
- Operations selects suppliers, co-ordinates the actual building of systems and ensures that services function well.
Portbase enjoys wide support from the business community and from the government. Both Port of Rotterdam Authority shareholders and the business community are represented on the supervisory board. The board assesses how well Portbase is functioning and supervises the development of the overarching Port Community System.
The advisory board comprises wide representation of the port business community. They advise Portbase – asked and unasked – on the services that are to be developed and on the Port Community System in general. The advisory board is an initiative by port employers’ organisation Deltalinqs.
