‘Our goods flow runs very smoothly’
“The Portbase services align seamlessly to this way of working”
Johan Blomme, Logistics Manager De Baerdemaecker
Significant cost savings
Shipping containers from the port of Rotterdam to the own warehouse without the need for customs documents. The Portbase Notification Local Clearance service makes it very easy, also in cross-border situations, for instance to Belgium. Logistics service provider De Baerdemaecker in the Port of Ghent uses this service every day for its parent company Stukwerkers. Logistics Manager Johan Blomme is enthusiastic. “We no longer need transit documents for the transport between the deep-sea terminal in Rotterdam and Ghent. That represents a considerable cost saving for us.”
“I can recommend the Notification Local Clearance service to everyone.”
Johan Blomme, Logistics Manager De Baerdemaecker
Johan Blomme says that it is rather easy to use the Notification Local Clearance service. “A single message to Dutch Customs suffices, also for twenty containers. After that we automatically inform the terminal using the service. Could it be easier than that? When the goods arrive in Ghent, all we need to do is store them in our bonded warehouse.” De Baerdemaecker was the first company to use the advantages of the Notification Local Clearance service for cross-border traffic. “This meant that it took a little more time and effort to obtain the customs permit. This way of working was entirely new, in particular for the Belgian Customs service. All things considered, the application procedure ran extremely well. And the most important: our goods flow runs very smoothly. I can recommend the Notification Local Clearance service to everyone.”
