As a result of this zoning, certain vessels may not always be able to berth without restriction at some berths in the Waalhaven, depending on the vessel’s length, mooring position and the nature, quantity or stowage of dangerous goods on board. As this may lead to undesirable restrictions in certain situations, it is now possible to apply for an exemption.

This exemption may, subject to conditions, only be obtained for the following berths:

WAALH CG ROG 2226 and 2224

WAALH 1 RHB QUAY 1-2-3 between bank front number 2157-2149 or bollard numbers 38 and 69.

Application in Vessel Notification

This concerns an application in the PCS, submitted from your visit in Vessel Notification, for an exemption for a berth outside the Petroleum Harbour and within the zoning area.
The ‘exemption’ is called: 02 Request for exemption to berth outside a Petroleum harbour with a tanker and within the restricted zoning scheme.

As it is not always known in advance how a vessel will berth at the quay concerned, or where any dangerous goods on board are stowed, shipping agents are asked to assess in advance, in consultation with the berth owner, whether an exemption is required for the vessel in question and to apply for this in good time via Vessel Notification in Portbase’s PCS. If it cannot be established with certainty that the vessel complies with the conditions set out in Article 7.1 of the Port Bye-Laws, the shipping agent must apply for an exemption.

In addition, an exemption may be required for vessels carrying packaged dangerous goods.
