Dutch ports constitute an indispensable link in the Dutch‘ economy, logistics, and international standing. At the same time, challenges are mounting due to geopolitical developments, shifting market conditions, and stricter regulations. This necessitates additional measures to ensure we remain well-prepared. Not just for today, but for the future as well.
In recent years, the logistics chain has undergone significant digitalisation and become increasingly intertwined. While this offers major efficiency benefits, it also creates greater mutual interdependence than ever before. In such a complex ecosystem, collaboration, transparency, and shared responsibility are essential to absorbing disruptions and keeping the chain running.
This shared responsibility also means that every one must step up and fulfill its own role. Consequently, Portbase is making targeted investments to strengthen the robustness and reliability of its systems. Both the Strategic Advisory Board and our customers have clearly indicated that this is a top priority. This requires a significant part of our capacity. Together with the community, we are building a reliable and powerful Port Community System.
Safety and resilience projects
In 2024, the ‘Secure Connection‘ project kicked off a series of initiatives aimed at making the digital landscape more secure. We enabled customers to manage their own connections to Portbase using verified identities.
New project for increased safety and stability
Since December 2025, we have been migrating our infrastructure step by step to a new environment. This migration allows us to optimally reconfigure the environment to ensure we meet current and future requirements for a secure platform.
Since December 2025, we have been working on a major project: migrating our technical infrastructure step by step to a new platform. This allows us to optimize the configuration of all Portbase services and implement further operational improvements. In doing so, we are taking another step toward meeting the growing demands for a secure platform.
This major upgrade ensures enhanced security, greater stability for all users, and increased flexibility for the Port Community System.
What will a Portbase user notice?
The migration means, that there will be several times throughout the year when services are briefly unavailable. As with scheduled maintenance, these interruptions will take place outside office hours whenever possible, and users will be notified two weeks in advance.
The first maintenance window for the migration is scheduled for Saturday, 4 July. We will update the schedule on this page as soon as it becomes available.
