Keeping Riege moving
Riege Software, founded in 1985 and creator of the TMS Scope, supports freight forwarders worldwide through efficient digital workflows. Its mission is to build a digital forwarding community in which forwarders can effortlessly connect with all key industry partners, including port community systems such as Portbase’s Port Community System (PCS). This shared commitment to digital excellence forms the foundation of the collaboration.
Benjamin Riege, CMO at Riege, says: “Portbase was never just a technical solution. From the beginning, it stood out as an enabler of efficient, connected logistics.”
Riege & Portbase: driving digital logistics forward together
The partnership between Riege and Portbase developed naturally when forwarders began requesting direct integrations with Portbase services. This led to the implementation of Notification Export Documentation in 2011, followed by Notification Import Documentation and Cargo Declaration Import in 2014, and later Cargo Controller Import in 2022. Riege’s Dutch branch was familiar with Portbase from the very beginning and viewed it as a trustworthy, innovative platform that genuinely enables connected and efficient logistics.
A partnership built on consistency
The true strength of the relationship lies in the steady and reliable cooperation between both organizations. Rather than one standout project, it is the ongoing quality of the collaboration that has made a difference. Nearly all Portbase interfaces relevant to freight forwarders who are part of the Secure Chain are available within Cargo Controller Import. This integration allows forwarders to work entirely within a single environment while benefiting from accurate, timely, and high-quality event data such as ETA, ATA, and ETD.

Supporting forwarders through Cargo Controller Import
Riege currently supports 66 forwarders who use the Cargo Controller Import integration. Implementations have been smooth due to clear documentation and responsive assistance whenever needed. Although the test environment provides only limited webhook data and certain trucker related details are not yet available, these points have not interfered with the overall customer experience. Users report that the integration performs reliably in daily operations, and the absence of complaints reinforces that it meets expectations.
“With Riege and Portbase, we have created a platform where our customers can view their shipment status themselves, and with this, we have created many resources for new customers.” – Arkadius Grabietz, Managing Director at BKB Globe int. Spedition GmbH

Benefits for the community
Forwarders benefit from a seamless working experience within Scope, eliminating the need to switch between different systems. They also benefit from consistent, dependable event data that supports more accurate planning and enhances operational efficiency across their logistics processes.
“Through the integration, we now have access to reliable data, including terminal information, and the ability to submit declarations easily and efficiently in advance.” – Jeroen van der Vliet, Business Process Consultant at Van der Helm Logistics
“The real strength lies in the reliability of our cooperation. We’re very satisfied and excited for what comes next.” – Benjamin Riege
Looking ahead together
Riege aims to strengthen the digital Scope Community even further by enhancing communication capabilities within the system. Improvements such as making terminal gateout events available without additional cost and ensuring webhooks deliver only new or updated information would contribute meaningful value for users. When reflecting on the partnership with Portbase, Riege summarizes their view with confidence:
Together, Portbase and Riege are shaping a more efficient, secure, and fully digital logistics ecosystem. This collaboration continues to benefit forwarders, terminals and every stakeholder within the wider supply chain, contributing to a smarter and more connected future for port logistics.
