New container release process for import containers
The Secure Chain is the new safe and reliable way to release and collect import containers at the Port of Rotterdam.
Shipping lines and agents
Shipping lines and agents use the Secure Chain Release service from Portbase to release containers in the Port of Rotterdam via the Secure Chain. To continue offering this service on a cost-effective basis, Portbase will charge agents €0.50 per released container as of 1 July 2025. This necessary step enables Portbase to continue guaranteeing the high quality of its services and support in the future.
Shippers and forwarders
To process containers via the Secure Chain as a shipper or forwarder, the following Portbase services are available: Cargo Controller (paid service) and Cargo Release Manager (free of charge). Apart from the Cargo Controller subscription, Portbase does not charge any additional fees for actions carried out via the Secure Chain.
Inland operators
To process containers via the Secure Chain as an inland operator, the Portbase service Hinterland Container Notification (HCN) is available. Apart from the HCN subscription, Portbase does not charge any additional fees for actions carried out via the Secure Chain.
