Data Fuel: Teaming up for hinterland efficiency

Hinterland carriers and Portbase will jointly work on improvements, solutions and innovations in the years ahead. Our aim is smarter and more efficient hinterland container transport. All these efforts converge in the service Hinterland Container Notification (HCN), via the program Data Fuel. This programme was set up with several port parties and is given substance in consultation with the port community.

Data Fuel will support:

  • The companies of hinterland carriers
  • The Dutch ports
  • The entire (port) logistics chain, from dispatch to delivery

Why this program?

Volumes in Dutch ports have increased enormously in recent years. Sea-going vessels are much larger which leads to enormous peak loads in ports. Popular time slots are used up quickly and congestion is common practice. These complex problems are here to stay. Innovative IT solutions and guaranteed secure data sharing throughout the logistics chain will greatly improve your port calls. Stagnation means decline.

Our plans

As said, the Data Fuel programme works together with hinterland carriers on solutions for a future-proof hinterland chain. In the coming years we will add value, based on five focal points:

  • Improving the user experience
  • Expanding the connections (terminals, depot)
  • Enhancing through more data within HCN
  • Innovating together with partners
  • Increasing security in the chain

What do you get?

The implementation of new functionalities is taking place in phases and in consultation with the port business community and sector organisations. They include:

  • Please the planner: Smarter, more efficient planning and reducing the number of screens for planners
  • Container Cockpit: Seamless sharing of container statuses with the customers and follow-up
  • Container Control: Customers will be in control of container information. Starting with a container file, which will be extended from the sea booking onwards

Together we will work on improvements, solutions and innovations in the hinterland chain. In the future, hinterland carriers will have access to additional information such as ETAs and ETDs of vessels, cargo opening and closing and new functionalities such as the container file. For a complete overview of the current and future functionalities we refer to the list of functionalities. Here the latest information is available.

Participation

Portbase is the port community company. Portbase will set the right course together with hinterland carriers. Participation of hinterland carriers and other customers includes:
