“The dashboard in Inspections Portal gives us – at a glance – a real-time overview of all Customs inspections currently in progress,” according to Jurjen Stoorvogel, Customer Service Manager with Evergreen Shipping Agency. “That goes not only for the scan inspections, but the physical inspections as well. The overview allows us consistently inform our clients quickly.”
Stoorvogel additionally considers it a major advantage that a block is automatically linked to every inspection announced in Inspections Portal. “Unlike previously, there’s no need for us to undertake any separate action ourselves in this regard, such as submitting information to the terminals. It also prevents those rare cases when a container selected for inspection is accidentally transported away from the terminal.”
There are, however, still some improvements Stoorvogel would like to see made. “Shipbrokers like myself would prefer to see all inspections become visible via the service. And we’d like the ILT and NVWA to get connected as well. The result would be an efficient, uniform way of working to benefit everyone.”
